# A 10-minute study reset

You do not need to restart the whole chapter. Pick one confusing step and work on it for ten minutes.

## Minutes 0–2: name the gap

Choose one slide or problem. Write: “I follow it until ___; I do not understand why ___.” Keep the notes open while you locate that exact step.

## Minutes 2–5: ask for one explanation

Ask a tutor, teacher, or study partner: “Explain why this step is allowed. Use the symbols from my notes, and stop before solving the rest.” If you use an AI tool, compare its working with the original source.

## Minutes 5–8: try a nearby problem

Close the explanation and solve a similar problem. For example, after working through 3x + 5 = 20, try 4x + 3 = 19. Subtract 3 to get 4x = 16, then divide by 4: x = 4. Substitute 4 back into the original equation to check it.

## Minutes 8–10: explain the reason

Write one sentence about the rule you used and one mistake to avoid. If you are still stuck, save the first uncertain line for your next question.
